The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) is a national professional association of pharmacists, health care practitioners and others who develop and provide clinical, educational and business management services on behalf of more than 200 million Americans covered by a managed pharmacy benefit. AMCP members are committed to a simple goal: providing the best available pharmaceutical care for all patients. Some of the tasks AMCP’s more than 8,000 members perform include:
  • Monitoring the safety and clinical effectiveness of new medications on the market
  • Designing and carrying out medication therapy management programs to ensure patients are taking medications that give them the best benefit to keep them healthy
  • Creating incentives to control patients’ out-of-pocket costs, including through lower copayments on generic drugs and certain preferred brands

These practices, and more, aim to ensure that all patients can receive the medications they need to improve their health while at the same time keeping health care costs under control.

AMCP serves its members in many ways, including through live national conferences, online learning programs, research in peer-reviewed literature and advocacy. Each is designed with the goal of advancing professional knowledge, improving the design and delivery of pharmacy benefits, and ultimately, increasing patient satisfaction and health outcomes.

Summary:

The Human Resources Manager will provide full life-cycle day-to-day HR support including talent acquisition, compensation and benefits administration, performance management administration, management of the organization’s policies and procedures and ensure compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.  He or She will help develop staff and advance a culture of collaboration. This position will occasionally work with other functional areas assisting with budgeting, training and employee relations.

AMCP is seeking an energetic, collegial and detail oriented Human Resources Manager to lead the administration of HR programs for the 40 person AMCP staff.  The incumbent in this position is responsible for the day to day tasks associated with the full cycle of human resources functions while providing a high level of customer service to the organization’s employees.  The candidate should be proactive in ensuring that staff are able to fully take advantage of AMCP employee benefits and that the benefits offered provide the greatest value within the constraints of our budget.  The HR manager may at times be an important element in the resolution of sensitive personnel issues.  The ideal candidate therefore must be approachable and open, and yet possess excellent discretion.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all recruiting activities: 
    • Works with hiring managers to update job descriptions, post position openings, collect and input resumes in tracking system, may participate in interviews and conducts reference checks.  
    • Assists with writing and posting ads for recruiting.
  • Assists with new employee on-boarding, quality check new hire paperwork and process paperwork with payroll. 
  • Maintains employee records in compliance with employment law.
  • Administers health and welfare benefits; leads plan selection process with brokers, updates employee/employment changes in systems, assists with open enrollment and assist with inquiries regarding eligibility. 
  • Administers Short and Long term disability claims as well as injury claims.
  • Oversees unemployment insurance claims for all states.   
  • Maintains the HRIS system (ADP) and generates reports for the VP of Finance and senior managers.
  • Assists the VP of Finance and senior management with special HR projects to include research, surveys and administrative tasks, such as communications, mailings and reports. 
  • Assists staff and managers with resolution of personnel issues or complaints.
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures for HR administration.
  • Assists VP of Finance in determining salary and benefits budgets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the goals of the Academy.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Administrative Skills

  • Must have proficiency with MS Office applications including Excel.  
  • Must demonstrate the ability to use sound judgment as well as the ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times as it relates to all Human Resources records and functions is critical.

Organizational Skills

  • Must be very organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks and projects. 
  • Ability to coordinate and administer tasks, projects and activities to meet deadlines. 

Communications Skills

  • Must have the ability to interact professionally and effectively with individuals at levels of the organization. 
  • Excellent customer service skills, strong verbal and written communication skills. 

Teamwork

  • Works cooperatively with others to achieve common goals. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.  BA in Human Resources Management or related degree preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years working experience in an HR department.    
  • Experience with HRIS (ADP Workforce Now a plus). 
  • HRCI (aPHR, PHR or SPHR) or SHRM certification a plus.
TRAVEL:

AMCP holds two conferences each year at various cities.  The HR manager is expected to attend.  Minimal overnight travel, up to 5% by land and/or air.
