The Role
The role of the HR Director is to plan, direct and deliver strategic and operational HR support to assigned Business Unit and Corporate Functions. The HR Director proactively consults with clients to identify critical people/organization business/function needs, and works with the HR Centers of Expertise to recommend and deploy HR solutions that make a positive impact. They ensure high level organizational effectiveness through ongoing staffing needs assessment; organization and individual performance assessment; skills and leadership development assessment; change management, and succession planning. They monitor and evaluate HR processes, programs, policies and procedures for their client groups to ensure optimal effectiveness and delivery. They oversee and direct remote, site-based HR Generalists, who work closely with managers and employees to provide coaching/counseling regarding employee relations, performance issues, leave of absences, benefit, compensation, policy and procedure inquiries. They ensure compliance with all federal and state laws.
This role reports to the Chief People Officer and requires the ability to work across Business Units and Corporate functions, with HR Centers of Expertise leaders (Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits) and site-based HR Generalists.
Location: Falls Church, VA
Travel: 25-30%
Key responsibilities include

  • Act as HR business partner to assigned Business Unit and Corporate functions and their leadership teams to identify, develop and deliver HR strategies to support business/function goals.
  • Represent Business Unit and Corporate functions needs/interest with HR Centers of Expertise leaders and vice versa.
  • Contribute to corporate HR strategy, programs, policies, procedures and systems development and deployment.
  • Monitor and evaluate HR processes, programs, policies and procedures for client groups to ensure optimal effectiveness and delivery.
  • Lead, coach and develop remote, site-based HR Generalists.
  • Work with managers and employees, via HR Generalists/directly, to provide coaching/counseling regarding employee relations, performance issues, leave of absences, benefit, compensation, policy and procedure inquiries.
  • Monitor federal and state laws changes and ensure compliance.
  • Ensure a dynamic pipeline of talent through rigorous talent development cycle e.g., leadership assessments, coaching and development of employees, candid and timely performance feedback
  • Facilitate culture and communications throughout the organization; work with operating leaders to ensure successful implementation of change efforts
  • Manage the HR Generalist budget.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of business experience of which 6 years HR experience, including HR Business Partner or Generalist roles.
  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of employee relations, employment regulations and compliance, recruiting, onboarding, engagement, performance management and change management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Human Resources, I/O Psychology, or related field.
  • SPHR/GPHR a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work in fast paced environment with geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Self-motivated and self-confident individual able to forge and maintain strategic business partnerships and interface with all levels of employees in the organization.
  • Excellent relationship building, negotiating, problem-solving and coaching skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and analytic skills.
  • Strong team player with a positive “can-do” attitude.
  • Experience gained through employment with a government/defense contractor desirable
  • Contact center experience is desirable.
  • Service Contract Act (SCA) experience is desirable
  • Experience in the health IT industry
